That process requires two separate, official tests: the DELE A2 diploma, which proves your Spanish level, and the CCSE (Conocimientos Constitucionales y Socioculturales de España), a separate test on Spain's constitution and society. Passing one does not cover the other — you need both.

What level do you actually need?
The DELE A2 diploma is the language requirement for citizenship — but A2 alone won't get you comfortable living, working, or handling daily life in Spain. Most residents find B1 the level where things actually feel manageable.
How long does the real path take?
For most Moroccan nationals, Spanish citizenship requires 10 years of continuous legal residency in Spain — not the reduced 2-year track available to some other nationalities (Ibero-American countries, among a short list of others), which does not apply to Morocco. Requirements and timelines can change, so always confirm your exact situation with an immigration lawyer or the Spanish Ministry of Justice before making plans.

Do I need Spanish to live in Spain day to day?
Not legally — but realistically, B1 or higher makes daily life, work, and dealing with paperwork far easier. Spanish isn't required for residency itself, only for the citizenship process later.
What's the difference between DELE A2 and the CCSE?
DELE A2 tests your Spanish. The CCSE tests your knowledge of Spain's constitution and society, in Spanish. They're separate exams — you need to pass both for citizenship, not one or the other.
How long does it take to become a Spanish citizen as a Moroccan?
