What does A2 actually mean?

A2 means you can manage simple, routine tasks and exchanges about familiar topics — your daily life, your work, your family — and understand short, clear messages.

Ayer fui al mercado y compré verduras.

fui/compré = simple past (pretérito) — what happened, once, and finished.

Normalmente me levanto a las siete.

me levanto = reflexive verb (levantarse), for daily routines.

Necesito una cita con el médico para mañana.

necesito = I need — a polite, direct way to ask for something.

Mi hermano es más alto que yo.

más... que = comparative, comparing two things or people.

Buenos días, quisiera pedir una cita.

Good morning, I'd like to make an appointment.

¿Puede ser el jueves por la tarde?

The A2 exam

A mock exam styled after DELE and SIELE at A2 level — the level Spain's real citizenship process asks for, alongside the separate CCSE test.
