Frequently asked questions
Do I need to already know some Italian to start?
No. Everything is explained from zero in Arabic or Darija.
How long does it take to reach B1?
About 14 weeks at 15-20 minutes daily. That's an estimate — it depends on your consistency.
Do I need an Italian test for citizenship?
It depends entirely on which path you're on. Citizenship by descent (jure sanguinis — through an Italian parent, grandparent, or further back) requires no language test at all. Citizenship by marriage or by residency (naturalization) has required a B1-level Italian certificate since Law 132/2018 — accepted certificates include CILS, CELI, PLIDA and CERT.IT.
Is Lerniyo's certificate an official CILS, CELI or PLIDA?
No. Our practice follows the style of those official exams, and our certificate confirms you completed our own curriculum — it isn't an official registration with the Università per Stranieri di Siena, the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, the Società Dante Alighieri, or any other certifying body.
