Delete your account

You can permanently delete your Lerniyo account and the personal data associated with it at any time, either from inside the app or by sending us an email. Below is what to expect, what gets removed, and what we are required to retain.

Option 1 — Delete from inside the app

  1. Sign in to Lerniyo on the web (app.lerniyo.com) or in the mobile app.
  2. Open Profile → Settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm the deletion in the dialog.

Your account is immediately deactivated. You have a 30-day restore window if you change your mind — during that window your data is retained but inaccessible. After 30 days, deletion becomes permanent and irreversible.

Option 2 — Request deletion by email

If you can no longer sign in to your account or prefer not to use the in-app flow, email us:

  1. Send an email to [email protected] with the subject "Account deletion".
  2. Include the email address associated with your Lerniyo account.
  3. Confirm that you understand the deletion is permanent and will remove access to your subscription (if any).
  4. We'll verify your identity (by replying to your account email) and process the deletion within 7 business days.

What is permanently deleted

  • Your profile information (name, username, email, avatar, country, language preferences)
  • All learning progress (lessons completed, vocabulary cards, streaks, XP)
  • Exam attempts, written answers, and graded results
  • Voice recordings from speaking exercises and AI voice calls
  • Conversations with the AI tutor (Nour)
  • Battle history and leaderboard standings
  • Push notification tokens and device identifiers
  • Any certificates issued (note: a digital copy you previously downloaded remains on your device — only our server-side copy is deleted)

What we are required to retain

A small set of records is kept after deletion for legal and accounting reasons. These records do not allow us to identify you in the product and are not used for any other purpose:

  • Payment and invoice records — kept for 10 years (Moroccan tax law / UAE corporate accounting requirements). Includes payment amounts, dates, and country of payment. Does not include card numbers — those are held by Stripe / Apple / Google, not us.
  • Refund and dispute logs — kept for 7 years.
  • Anonymized analytics — aggregated usage events (lesson completion rates, drop-off points) with all user identifiers stripped. Cannot be linked back to you.

Active subscription

If your account has an active paid subscription, deleting your account does not automatically refund the remainder of your billing period. You should cancel your subscription first (Profile → Settings → Subscription → Cancel) before requesting deletion. If you cancel and request deletion together, we'll honor any refund eligibility per our refund policy.

Third-party data

We use a small number of third-party services to operate Lerniyo. When you delete your account, we send deletion requests to these services:

  • Supabase (database and auth) — your account row is deleted; replicated backups are purged within 30 days.
  • Stripe / Apple / Google (payment processors) — payment records remain for the legal retention period above; we cannot delete records they are required to keep.
  • Sentry (error monitoring) — crash logs containing your user ID are scrubbed within 30 days.
  • ElevenLabs (voice processing) — voice recordings are not retained by ElevenLabs after our session ends.
  • RevenueCat (subscription management on iOS / Android) — your subscriber profile is deleted; receipt records retained per Apple / Google policy.
